- Completed one month before the Henderson House
in 1905, the interior style of this home is more
Late Victorian with dark woodwork and dark
colors. The Spickard's were educators and known
for starting rural schools.
The first floor is furnished for dining and meeting
areas. Several pieces of Victorian furniture grace
the front parlor.
| Miss Maude Spickard of this city, present
Superintendent of Public Instruction for
Stafford county, is a candidate for re-election to
the second term. She has filled the office in a
very able and satisfactory manner and has proven
that she was particularly adapted for the
position. Miss Spickard was a teacher in the
Stafford city schools for two years prior to her
election as county superintendent. Before that
she had taught for a number of years in country
schools over the county. She was granted a first
grade certificate to teach in 1906 and is also a
holder of a first grade certificate for the State
of Colorado, having taught one term in the Pagosa
Springs city schools. And in addition to
these she is the holder of a professional certificate.
She is most popular among the teachers
of the county and has all schools working in perfect
accord and harmony. She will be elected
by a larger majority than she received two years
ago, is our prediction.
